Nouwens’ works are palette-able chef d’oeuvres that highlight the important things in life, i.e., a crust of bread, a cup of kindness, a leap of faith. He sheds light, both literally and figuratively, onto moments of determinative existentialism, whether that be through a still-life of empty bottles entitled J’ai soif (I’m thirsty), or a whimsical portrait of a wine-cellar dweller (a black cat) basking in the warm glow of a pendulant light bulb.
